I'm Andrea, and this is my personal blog. Thanks for being here! I usually post on Fridays and Sundays, when I share something that makes me happy or a spiritual thought for the week. Sometimes I manage to squeeze in another post or two.

Potties and Candy

Little Boy is feeling much better now than he was a couple of days ago. Thanks for your well-wishes! Now, about that candy bar. The candy bar was a potty-training bribe. We've been having the HARDEST time potty training this kid. Part of the problem is Little Boy's reluctance, and part of it is Isaac and me being inconsistent with it. Yeah, Little Boy is four years old; yeah, we've tried a million potty training theories; yeah, whatever. Anyway, he's finally almost completely trained. And on the day he was sick, he earned a little candy bar for good potty training habits. {He picked the candy out himself. We keep it on top of the fridge and call it his "bum candy."} He did get to eat his candy bar the day after--along with a second one, for that day. Pretty sweet, if you ask me.

Sick Day!

{I had Isaac take this photo of Little Boy in his sick-bed today...okay, obviously not, but wouldn't it be funny if we really looked like that? Image from here.} Little Boy's a little sicky today--I swear, he's thrown up more in the last month than in the other four years of his entire life. ...which totally makes it sound like he's been throwing up for a month straight. Don't worry, he hasn't. He's just gotten two stomach bugs within a few weeks of each other. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that he's better already; he was pretty active this evening. I keep explaining to him that he can't have the candy bar he wants, because we need to wait for his tummy to get better, and he keeps responding, "But I already got better all by myself! After I threw up!" Heh. Nice try, kid.

Funny (and Short!) Video: Carpet Cleaning

So...I've never taken any of rugs outside to beat them, but after watching this...maybe I'll try it. Because you never know what's really hiding in your rugs. :D

Love

"Love is the very essence of the gospel of Christ. In this church, prayers for help are often answered by the Lord through the simple, daily service of caring brothers and sisters. In the goodness of genuine friends, I have seen the reflected mercy of the Lord Himself." -Joseph B. Wirthlin

Recipe Link: Bacon & Cheese Muffins

So...I've mentioned before that I bake a lot of muffins. I used to hate making muffins, because they always turned out terrible. But for some reason, ever since I started using recipes from food bloggers, my muffins have turned out great. Apparently food bloggers know something (or a million things...) that I don't. Anyway, I tried these Bacon & Cheese Muffins last night. Bacon and black pepper in muffins?! Yep. They're savory--no sugar at all--so they're kind of like muffin-shaped biscuits. With bacon and cheese in them! They were delicious, of course. Here's the link (incidentally, this blogger's recipes have never let me down): Bacon and Cheese Muffins, by Stolen Moments Cooking Enjoy!

“The Lord has blessed you with a testimony of the truth. You have felt His influence and witnessed His power. And if you continue to seek Him, He will continue to grant you sacred experiences. With these and other spiritual gifts, you will be able to not only change your own life for the better but also to bless your homes, wards or branches, communities, cities, states, and nations with your goodness.”

Little Boy's Favorite Christmas Ornament

I know Christmas is over, but I had to post this. It'll be a good one for me to look back on later. And laugh. So we visited Isaac's parents for the Christmas break. Isaac and his family (I was somewhere else that day, don't remember where) watched A Christmas Story while Little Boy was playing in the same room. I'm sure that 99% of the movie went over Little Boy's head, but one part stuck. And, thanks to that one part in A Christmas Story, Little Boy easily decided which ornament on his grandparents' Christmas tree is his favorite:

Yes, that's an actual Christmas ornament. And for the rest of our vacation, we'd hear Little Boy randomly exclaim, "It's a major award!"
